Although Michigan online casino players have 15 different options to choose from, it is clear that BetMGM Michigan stood out from the pack.
In the first 15 months of legalizing internet gambling, BetMGM has found the recipe to consistently bring consumers back to their platform.
BetMGM’s dominance over Michigan’s online casinos
Unsurprisingly, April 2022 saw BetMGM over double its nearest competitor in internet gaming revenue.
Its total just below $50 million nearly accounted for 38% of the $132.4 million in state revenue.
All the time, BetMGM Michigan raised $605.7 million in Internet gaming revenue. Its next closest competitors are FanDuel Casino MI ($265.2 million) and DraftKings Casino MI ($264.9 million). Just like April, BetMGM’s all-time revenue is approximately 37% of total internet gaming revenue in the state.
The same goes for the tax revenue generated for the state. BetMGM represents a little less 37% of the state’s all-time tax revenue. He generated $105.9 million of the state total of $290.6 million.
“The Michigan market is one of our most important, but it is also integral to our past, present and future successes,” Matthew Sunderland, said the vice president of games at BetMGM. “For many reasons, including our omnichannel relationship with MGM Grand Detroit, our brand resonated in Michigan as soon as we entered the market. We will continue to view this as a critical factor in our future success.
Leaders and best game offers
BetMGM’s success in Michigan can be spotted with its variety of games.
The online casino leads the state in terms of total game offerings.
At the end of March, BetMGM was offering a total of 532 different games on its online casino platform. Included in this total:
- 483 locations in total
- 38 board games in total
- 11 video poker games
- 5 live dealer games (included in the number of table games)
“We emphasize our exclusive gaming content, both in-house and third-party, in what has become the largest portfolio in the industry. We produce engaging games by leveraging our parent companies, but we seek also to partner with the best third-party providers to secure exclusive content to add to Entain’s already impressive casino platform,” Sunderland said. “Finally, our live dealer offering through our branded private studios built in partnership with Evolution is unmatched. Even when playing at our generic tables, players get a premium iGaming experience and easy access to our full game portfolio.
BetMGM also tops the biggest payouts
A wide selection of games is good, but consumers want their piece of the pie.
BetMGM has been able to reward its players with big jackpots over the past 15 months.
In the first year of online casinos, BetMGM represented the Top 3 Slot Games Jackpot Winsincluding one on $1 million this past June.
Last March, BetMGM Michigan paid a $2.4 million prize pool for a lucky player on Bison Fury.
“Our jackpot network, the largest exclusive state-by-state in-house progressive network of its kind in the United States, consistently provides players with life-changing jackpot opportunities,” Sunderland said. “Last year, we paid out nearly $50 million in prize money through our in-house games.”
BetMGM named operator of the year
BetMGM’s success is felt well outside of Michigan.
Last month he was named Casino Operator of the Year to EGR North America Price. The EGR North America Awards celebrate excellence in North American online gaming.
Based on the EGR award criteria, Casino Operator of the Year is the online casino operator that has been able to lead the industry with its global reach and product quality.
“It is an honor to be named Casino Operator of the Year by EGR, we are honored to be recognized by our peers as the industry leader,” Sunderland said. “The award is a testament to our hard work, especially in 2021 as we solidified our position as the leading iGaming player in North America.”
MGM reported that its regional operations have seen $891 million in revenue in the first quarter of 2022. It was a 25% increase a year ago ($711 million). Adjusted real estate EBITDAR (Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, amortization and restructuring or rental costs) was $313 million. It was a 29% improvement a year ago ($242 million).
