LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lincoln/Lancaster County celebrated their 15th anniversary Friday with a fundraiser for children and families in need.
It was the first event to celebrate the event.
The annual fundraiser is the nonprofit’s most popular event, attracting businesses and residents from all over Lincoln.
Casino Night attendees, held at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo, enjoyed live entertainment, casino games, raffles and more.
Boys and Girls Clubs executive director Kimberly Goins said the purpose of the fundraiser was to provide opportunities for young people.
“This event is for our summer lineup,” she said. “We do not turn away any families for inability to pay, and therefore 100% of every dollar raised tonight goes directly to our program.”
Over the past year, the organization has continued to provide meal services and worked on innovative ways to help Lincoln Public School students and the community with fun programs like BGC in a Box, which has brought the nonprofit’s programs to students’ homes during COVID-19 school closures.
This summer, it will continue to host in-person programs to provide children with a fun and safe place to continue learning during the school break.
