Is Yonkers garbage pick up in 2023? ›

Garbage is collected curbside twice per week in accordance with the 2023 Recycling Calendar. Trash cans should be 32 gallons or less. The City will not collect electronics, commercial, construction, or roofing materials, gas tanks, motor oil, tires, rims, car batteries, porcelain, rocks or dirt curbside.

Residents may place one non-metal bulk item curbside for pick-up on their second scheduled collection day of the week (Thursday or Friday). Non-metal bulk items are classified as mattresses, box springs, tables, chairs, couches, sleeper sofas (tied closed), and rugs cut and tied in 3-foot lengths.

The trash, recycling, and compost collection schedule for your home is based on your address. Place your items curbside after 6 PM (if in a bin with a secured lid) or after 8 PM (if in bags) and before midnight the evening before your scheduled pickup. If your pickup is before 4 PM, you must retrieve bins by 9 PM.

You can't remove items, materials, or bags that other residents have placed out for pickup. Only authorized employees or agents of the Department of Sanitation may collect them.
