BET99 Launches in Alberta as Market Transition Ends

BET99 is now live in Alberta’s regulated online gambling market, launching its sportsbook and online casino in the province on October 13, 2026. Canadian gaming brand BET99 officially entered Alberta’s regulated online gambling sector on October 13, 2026, rolling out both its online casino and sportsbook. The company is now one of upwards of 40 platforms to launch in the province since the private operator market officially opened on July 13.

Although BET99 did not debut on day one, its arrival coincided with the expiration of a three-month grace period established by regulators for brands needing additional time to finalize requirements.

A Launch on the Last Day of the Transition Window

Earlier in the year, the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC) established a July 13 deadline for submitting completed applications and settling fees. The regulatory body also permitted extensions lasting up to three months, pushing the final compliance deadline to October 13.

Under these guidelines, newly launched brands must halt all unregulated provincial operations by their go-live date, resolve active wagers, disburse player funds, and integrate with Alberta’s centralized self-exclusion framework prior to accepting any new bets.

In an interview with industry publication Covers, BET99 CEO Jared Beber explained that the rollout required extensive coordination across tech infrastructure, payment processing, identity verification, player communication, and responsible gaming features. While admitting the transition had occasional hurdles, Beber emphasized that going live was merely a starting point, noting that continuously earning consumer trust is the true challenge.

What Alberta Players Get

Alberta users now have access to BET99’s comprehensive sportsbook and casino suite. In compliance with local regulations, users must be physically present inside the province to participate, and all profiles are integrated directly into the provincial self-exclusion database.

According to Beber, BET99 plans to set itself apart through customized pricing and customer service, noting the brand’s preference for a competitive, regulated landscape over a monopoly. The operator also intends to host local community events and sports watch parties beginning in Calgary and Edmonton before expanding to smaller municipalities.

Having previously established a presence in Ontario’s regulated market—which launched in 2002 and served as the blueprint for Alberta—BET99 is approaching Alberta as a unique market rather than replicating its Ontario strategy. Beber also noted that the company would eagerly enter the Quebec and British Columbia markets should those provinces establish transparent regulatory models.

Responsible Gambling Ambassadors

To promote safe play, BET99 has partnered with former UFC champion Georges St-Pierre and Montreal Canadiens winger Cole Caufield to serve as responsible gambling ambassadors. Their messaging prompts users to establish strict boundaries regarding deposit limits, spending totals, and time spent playing.

This rollout arrives amid broader discussions surrounding player safety in Alberta’s burgeoning market. Prior to launch, First Nations leaders expressed worries regarding potential revenue declines for community-run casinos, whereas suppliers like Pragmatic Play and Playtech praised the implementation of the province’s unified self-exclusion network.

A Crowded Market

With BET99’s entrance, the number of active platforms in Alberta surpasses 40 as the regulated sector reaches the three-month mark. Brands entering after the initial wave must work harder to draw users away from day-one competitors, making localized marketing, pricing, and promotional offerings essential for late arrivals.
