A look back at Smash Mouth’s formative years shows a band determined to make an impact from the start. Formed in late 1994, the band immediately began recording demos and performing in both San Jose and Hollywood. In June 1997, Smash Mouth signed to Interscope Records when the Brass label got wind of an unknown (and unsigned) band being added to the playlist of Los Angeles’ most influential radio station KROQ after a single lap of their song “Walkin’ On The Sun”.
Smash Mouth’s major label debut ‘Fush Yu Mang’ more than doubled platinum and paved the way for what most consider their masterpiece, the brilliant follow-up album to 1999 “Astrolounge”. With three top-10 hits (“All-Star,” “The Morning Comes,” “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby”), sales of “Astrolounge” nearly doubled those of “Fush Yu Mang,” approaching almost quadruple platinum status.
In 2022, Grammy-nominated Smash Mouth cast Goode as a perfect match for the band’s high-energy alt-pop beach brand.
